Tenugui towels are a versatile fabric - use to wrap, wipe or just enjoy the artwork!
A tenugui is a traditional Japanese hand towel made of a thin piece of cotton, often measuring about 30 to 37 cm and 90 to 100cm in size. Like furoshiki, both are traditional Japanese pieces of cloth, but furoshiki are square wrapping cloths with hemmed edges, while traditional tenugui are rectangular, very thin cotton towels with shorter edges that are raw and unstitched.
The shorter edges are deliberately left unhemmed so that the fabric can dry quicker. This results in fraying of the fabric, which will naturally lock into place through usage and washing.
